Lately, I've noticed a lot of people asking if there are any good tutorials around for colouring and whatnot. So, I decided to put together a little tracker of tutorials. The links below are the best tutorials I've ever seen and are very near and dear to my heart because they started my photoshop life and give me a boost in CG. I'm not saying use them word for word; deviate as you wish, for that is what makes your style. I hardly ever look at these now. But it does give you a second perspective on your methods. So check them out if you have time!
I've categorized them as best as I could to provide easy browsing. ;D
NOTE: I did not make these tutorials nor am I claiming to have. I'm merely linking to some tutorials by others that i found helpful.
Colouring Styles
1. The Ultimate Colouring Guide
This tutorial provides a complete guide to cell shading. However, it also covers preparing the outline and other important factors, so even if you like soft shading, check it out. I honestly believe this is the best colouring tutorial I've ever seen online; even if you're inclined to do soft-shading (like me), you can still follow this tutorial and do some smudge-softening at the end.
NOTE: Works with any photoshop version; tried and true.
Specifics
1. Colouring Anime Hair
Oh, how I love this tutorial. it's easy to follow along and the result is stunning. A perfect guide to colouring anime hair, which to some is quite intimidating.
2. Colouring Anime Eyes
Do you like how I colour my eyes? This is the tutorial that started me off. It is beautifully simple yet works wonders. ^^
3. Digital Fur
Have an animal character but don't want to spend ages of time scoping out fur fibers? This tutorial is very simple and is very easy to modify as well. Because the fur texture is on layers above the actual colour, you can go back and change the base colour whenever you wish.
SOS
Are you stuck really badly with a photoshop question and can't find help? These forums are perfect for that. You can post any graphics question you like and expect an answer within a day or two.
1. Photoshop 911
The name says it all; the link I provided leads to the photoshop emergency room where no question is too noobish.
2. Tutorial FX
Another great forum; though this is loaded with tutorials on a wide variety of subjects. However, you can post and ask questions here too.
And that's all the links I feel like posting for now! But to anyone who is wondering on a method, you can ask me to find you a tutorial. I've gotten quite linked up with tutorials over the net - 645 bookmarks and growing. ;D The ones I posted deal specifically with CG but you can ask me to find you a tutorial about anything; I have a lot of bookmarked tutorials.
Till next time,
